While Tony Jannus is responsible for the birth of commercial aviation, the industry’s push to improve safety has been paramount to its success. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger exemplified this with his heroic efforts while captaining US Airways Flight 1549, where through his training, he was able to save the lives of everyone onboard when he safely landed his plane in the Hudson River.
